Happy Birthday, Aunt Virginia

Aunt Virginia was there for our lucky 13th anniversary last month, and this month she took a small bite out of our wallet for celebrating a child’s birthday.

Today, we bought a gift for our son to give one of his friends for his eighth birthday. The price was 99 cents more than Target demanded because the state had to have its share.

Add to that another 39 cents that I paid to join the laser-tag fun at the party tonight and our total tax tab for the momentous occasion was $1.38. I don’t even want to think about how much the parents of the birthday boy paid in taxes for the whole party!
