Major appliances are a major pain in the budget — and a bigger one because of the government’s money grab.
You may recall that our refrigerator/freezer died. We’ve been living with a loaner mini-fridge from a neighbor and our separate chest freezer while shopping for a replacement. We finally made our choice today.
Virginia’s sales tax increased our tab by $70. I’m glad we don’t have either the conspicuously consumptive desire or the financial capacity to throw $8,000 or so down the drain for the giant, pretentious fridges we saw at Expo because then I’d have to live with knowing that the government got even more money.
